Leon is a qualified and registered chartered accountant with extensive business experience who provides a range of services including; business planning, analysis and feasibility studies, valuations, strategic development, analysis modelling, reporting tools for a number of Blue-Chip companies.

 

He has more than 27 years’ experience in the value creation side of business, having gained valuable experience during his career in the mining corporate environment, serving on Boards of Directors of as executive and non-executive director. He has worked extensively internationally on technical projects in diverse geographical locations, including – Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, DRC, Mozambique, New Caledonia, Zambia, Botswana, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, Australia and South Africa.

 

Leon’s experience covers a wide range of industrial sectors, including – Metals & Minerals (coal, iron ore, base metals, gold, copper and heavy minerals), industrial (manufacturing and motor industry), mining services, construction and engineering, energy generation, financial, informational technology and agricultural sectors.

Leon’s relevant experience includes:

 

  • Gained in-depth experience in managing financial operations at sites and corporate.

  • Developed and maintained business planning and analysis models for various Blue-Chip companies.

  • Development of contractor mining and services agreements to manage risk and security of payment.

  • Managed and initiated several acquisitions and mergers.

  • Business modelling for rolling forecast and long-term scenario planning.

  • Development of rolling forecast processes supporting business strategy.

  • Operational efficiency and key driver optimisation.

  • Development of estimation and tender models with scenario/sensitivity.
